This audiobook is the story of one man's lifetime search for his place in the cosmos and his purpose in the universe. A teacher, healer, reader, and author, David R. Lewis has spent his life moving from dogma to karma and farther in the search for answers to the questions so many of us have.

David offers a wealth of his personal experience and shares some of the wisdom of his mentor, the late Doctor Henry Rucker. In a refreshing approach to life, he claims no truths but his own with no desire to convert or convince, but only to share and support. Join David in this glimpse of the Endless Journey Toward an Unknown Destination.

The only reason I was not surprised by anything in this book was simply that I've undergone a similar journey myself. Not identical, of course; I was certainly not quite as forcibly involved in church attendance and participation during my childhood years as he was. Nor was I later a cop, being too much of an outlaw at heart to consider such a career. But the text did have me smiling a lot, wincing on occasion, and chuckling about the challenges faced by a spiritual seeker who does not at first know he is a seeker.

"Rough shift?" His wife asks upon noting bullet holes in his uniform shirt, holes that guaranteed there were holes in David's arm as well, except there weren't. Right then and there, the reader is bound to realize the author has been blessed not only with guardian angels or some such, but also blessed in his marriage; Laura is, as the saying goes, a woman to ride the river with. Physical and financial struggles, insights both sudden and subtle, the Lewis couple learning how to work as a team. Reincarnation, dream study, crystals, astrology, divination of various sorts, discarnate spirits David Lewis prefers not to call ghosts...they're all there.

The only thing that is missing is fluff. When he writes, this author gets right to the point. Had David R. Lewis written Donald Trump's classic business book, The Art of the Deal, it would have been summed up perfectly in fifty pages or less. And yet he (Lewis) manages to include numerous detailed anecdotes that drive his message home.

If you're a conservative Christian who believes the so called "occult" world is entirely of the scary old Devil, Endless Journey is not for you. On the other hand, if you're curious about what might actually be out there (or right in there where you are right now, had you but the awareness to perceive), or if you simply enjoy a great spiritual read...yeah. As my father used to say, a bargain at twice the price.

David has an amazing ability to guide the reader through the spiritual maze of "life". As he shares his Endless (but far too short) Journey, I think each reader will have no choice except to closely inspect their own beliefs. And then...?

Whether you are willing to toss your root teachings with the bathwater, or to embrace them ever more tightly, you will be avoiding all your chores as you become mesmerized by David's storytelling.
Don't know if I'm ready to accept this kind of "stuff", but I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I also purchased the audiobook and really, really enjoyed the audio version. After trying to read The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav I was a bit shy to read The Endless Journey Toward an Unknown Destination. What a difference! Where Zukav failed, Lewis triumphed! Great work David...!
This book is truly inspirational. David R Lewis has written an extraordinary autobiography that had me hooked from the first chapter to the last.
Interesting autobiographical essay. The author writes openly about personal life experiences that might be uncomfortable for some people to contemplate, doing so without proselytizing or trying to convert the reader to his thoughts and beliefs. Thought provoking.
Yes, it is true. The events that David Lewis chronicles in this book fall outside the limits of normal understanding, and of what's acceptable in terms of societal beliefs. Yet to someone with an open mind, to someone who is willing to challenge conventional wisdom and grow deeper in her spiritual development, this book is an inspiring look at the untapped power that we all possess—whether we'd like to admit it or not. I found myself spellbound by David's metaphysical experiences, and the healing powers that awakened within him. One would hardly expect a former police officer and cowboy to immerse himself in the world of spirituality and New Age. But it's clear in this memoir/spiritual testimony that David Lewis did no seek this life; instead, it sought him.

David writes in a very conversational and assessable tone, so it's easy to get lost in his stories. At many points along the way, I felt as if I was listening to him share his wisdom by the light of a campfire on a magnificent starry night. That's how much his experiences give me hope; that there is more to us than meets the eye, particularly beyond religious doctrine. As I neared the end of the book, I dreaded having to say good night, and was sad when the conversation was over. I would love to hear Mr. Lewis speak in person, but I'm afraid I'd never let him leave the room with my endless questions. But one can only hope. I look forward to diving into his fiction novels next.
I've been on a David Lewis reading marathon as of late, and I've been enjoying his work very much. The last book I read of his was fiction, and while I loved it, I think I appreciated ENDLESS JOURNEY even more. I suspect that Lewis, with his gracious and lively sense of humor, would crack a joke at this point. "Well, champ. That's because this book was so much shorter," Lewis would say. The thing is, yes, this book is short, but I'd have kept reading if it had been twice as long.

It's quite difficult to pigeonhole ENDLESS JOURNEY. While it fits within the category of memoirs, it retains a tight focus on Lewis' spiritual growth. Perhaps the best description for ENDLESS JOURNEY is that it's a man's memoirs on his spiritual journey, ranging from his childhood to a very energetic middle age.

Lewis writes in a conversational tone. I felt like I was sitting cross-legged sipping tea with him and a wild cast of healers and New Age characters as I shared in their wild wanderings. Whatever your spiritual beliefs, and wherever you've come on your own path back Home, I do think you will learn a lot from Lewis if you read ENDLESS JOURNEY.

I recommend it most highly.
